As a gal from Chicago I can sometimes be picky about my food. We have so many delish options, that sometimes it's hard to imagine a small town can do it up right. But, when my boyfriend and I were in Indian River staying at his uncle's cabin, we came here twice for breakfast. WOWSA! I wish they'd open a location here in Chicago! The first day we came here we shared the nutty camper and something with "heart attack" in the name. The second day we returned and my beau got an omlett and I got the nutty camper again. Let's start with the nutty camper. OMG. We actually loved it so much that we called our waitress over 3 times to write down how to recreate this at home. It's french toast. Only they dont dip the bread in egg or milk. They dip it in pancake batter. And top it with walnuts. It was crusty and carmalized on the outside and heaven on the inside. I honestly would have licked the plate had I been eating it in the privacy of my own home. I can't even tell you how delish this was. I got it 2 days in a row and honestly would have eaten more of it had we been in town longer (and also had my jeans not started to fit a tad too tight). The heart attack menu item was delish. Eggs with chili and onions and sour cream... it was so tasty. Talk about comfort food! I would also recreate this at home with some leftover chili on a cold snowy stay-in-on-the-couch type of day. All in all 5 stars! Bravo! DELISH!!! :)

Friendly staff!! Outdoor seating available and most importantly, great food! I had the beef sliders, and they were the tastiest little burgers I've ever had! Someone sitting next to us has these awesome looking strawberry pancakes! Will definitely go back!

We went to Wilson's for the first time a year ago on our camping trip to Burt Lake State Park. We went again this year, and ended up going 4 or 5 times. The restaurant is on the river, right outside Burt Lake State Park. It doesn't have a whole lot of seating, but we got there early enough we didn't have to wait. The service is your typical homegrown breakfast joint service... friendly, fast, and genuine. The food is excellent. I've gotten the blueberry pancakes (awesome and fill the plate), northern omelet (huge and also very delicious), nutty campers (french toast dipped in syrup and walnuts--probably my favorite, but a little sweet), and Lynn's scrambled delight (eggs with onion, green pepper, and ham). All the serving sizes are huge -- you won't go home hungry! Prices are pretty reasonable. Some stuff seems really inexpensive ($3-4), while most meals are around $6-8. But, like I said, they're huge portions. They leave a pot of coffee, which I always prefer because then I can fill it up myself. Overall, I'm a very big fan of Wilson's and will probably return next year!

I went here with a large party on a Friday night. We got the last table in the joint. We had a nice dinner and really enjoyed the food. Very large portions. The salad bar is just okay, but the chili was outstanding. The atmosphere pleasant and the experienced waitstaff were very friendly and efficient.

Great for breakfast. The add on for using a credit card is not so nice. The staff is very good and efficient. One pancake, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, and coffee is a real value.

Can't say enough about this place. Delicious food. Friendly wait staff. Quick service. Huge portions. We had breakfast here three times on vacation and I tend to use YELP to try different things when I have the chance. So Wilsons is simply exceptional. This would be a popular spot anywhere in the country I've ever been to, and in a town as small as Indian River it is just awesome. You can even get a Bloody Mary with your breakfast if you need a little hair of the dog. While everything was fantastic, the Nutty Camper French Toast was so ridiculously good I have to make a point of adding that to my comments. And I'm not the only one because it was another YELP review that convinced me to try it. If I lived in the area I would have to have it at LEAST once a week. Nice job to everyone at Wilson's..

Great breakfast with excellent service! They completely renovated in the spring and... What a difference! My omelette was so good! Nice salad bar with homemade soup ... Yummy pies and oh the pancakes are amazing! Can't wait to try dinner. Staff is so nice... Another new " go to " place when we come up here.

Went here for dinner. This will be a short review, it's not worth a longer one. Food mediocre, service less than mediocre. Should have went back to Vivios for more pizza.

A great pick for breakfast! Prices are extremely reasonable, a very laid back environment. Staff was quick and friendly! These girls knew the way to our hearts, a water jug for the table and a whole thermal pot of coffee! Needless to say we were never waiting on refills! The food was great as well, delicious pancakes. My husband had a great open faced omelette meal and said it was also delicious!

My kids and I stopped in for a quick lunch. When we walked in I could see the cook setting a plate of food down on the table in the kitchen some French fries fell of the plate instead of throwing them away the cook just picked them back up and put them on the plate. As a manager of a restaurant it's these things that count when preparing food for the public. The food was good and the service was very friendly and quick. As we were leaving I witnessed a hostesses pouring a coffee craft that had just came from a table back into the coffee warmer. Which is then used to fill other coffee crafts to serve to other people. This is a violation of health code rules. Once food or drinks go to a table they can not be used for another table. I would have rated more stars but I have been thinking about what I saw for a couple days now and wandering what else they do that we can not see.

I'm a northern Michigan girl, so, I've learned you have to grade on a curve when it comes to restaurant quality in the area. But how this restaurant could garner five stars from not one, but two, reviewers is beyond me. Maybe I need to order the Nutty Camper. Here's the deal: this is cafeteria food. Institutional, going-through-the-motions, sad food. I feel bad when locally run restaurants advertise "home cooking" but it's obvious that most components are coming out of a can or a bag of powder with the directions "Mix, heat, and serve". The pies sitting in the glass case look homemade, that could be worth a try. Otherwise, it's just not worth the time or money if you have other options.

I'm hoping it was a bad night. We were driving through and stopped for dinner. The servers seemed rushed off their feet. Every piece of silver and glass at my place setting was dirty. The coffee cup had red lipstick on the rim, not a smudge, a full lip! My dinner was wrong, when sent back it was slap-dash remove the wrong part and slap the sandwich back together. Sent it back again and it came out right. My companion's fish looked very greasy. Neither of us left happy. Vegetarians, beware. Nothing on the menu for you.
